What is Chronograph？

A chronograph, or Chrono watch, is a watch with a stopwatch function.

The chronograph movement has a ticking sound, a tachymeter

A standard watch indicates the passing of time continuously. A chronograph is different in that it can record the length of any period at will。

Understanding Chronograph Watches，How Do Chronograph Watches Work?

Most chronographs now have three subdials and two extra buttons. The position and shape of the subdials and buttons vary from brand to brand and model to model, but the main elements remain the same.

• Small dials: they are the chronograph minute dial, chronograph hour dial, and chronograph second dial.
• Buttons: They are the stop/ start button, Reset button.

Let’s know the 2 Buttons first.

The 2 pushers on the side are placed above and below the normal crown.

The top button is the start and pause timer button, and the bottom one is the reset button

and then know the 2-3 small dials

Do you know what the numbers on the subdials represent?

If you do not know, then you should know this, 1Hour = 60 minutes, 1Minute = 60 seconds. Then that small dial represents

1. the chronograph hour dial

The number on the dial of the hour hand timer is naturally the 12 hours of the day

2. chronograph minute dial

The chronograph minute dial has numbers from 10 to 60, which naturally represent the number of minutes

3. chronograph second dial

The chronograph second dial has numbers from 10 to 60, which naturally represent the number of seconds

So, when you turn on the chronograph start button, they run like this, the second’s dial turns 1 circle(60 seconds), then the minute’s dial will turn 1 tick(1 minute). The minute table turns 1 circle, and the clock table turns 1 tick(1 hour).

Some special notes：

• Standard chronograph with 30-minute or 12-hour timing.

There are also professional chronographs are different numbers on the small second dials, the number is more accurate; they can be accurate in timing to 1/20th of a second (0.05 seconds), 1/10th of a second (0.1 seconds), or they combine normal second dial and professional second dial, that is, It can be either a normal 60s number or a number containing 1/10, 1/20

• Single-pusher

Some chronograph only has 1 crown or 2 crowns.

For 1 crown chrono watch, that is, the watch with only 1 crown, This crown is used for starting, stopping, and restarting the chronograph, and also setup the time button.

For 2 crowns chrono watch, that is, the watch with 2 crowns. One crown is a normal crown to setup time, and the other one is chronograph crown.

How to Use Chronograph Watch?

Once you know the dials and buttons of the chronograph, the operation is simple

With the popularity of today’s fashionable sports and leisure style, the compact design of multiple dials is more refined and dominant compared to ordinary watches.

Chronographs are loved by people for their strong sense of movement, large size, and rich design elements.

 Although wearing a watch with a chronograph function is not necessarily for timing, men are naturally attracted to physical construction machinery, and in combination with the very aesthetic and excellent structure of the chronograph movement, this is what makes chronographs attractive.

Remember, the top and bottom buttons are Timer Start/Stop and Timer Zero Reset.

Operation Steps.：

Step 1: Press the start button to start the timing; the big second hand starts to go; the big second hand goes one circle; the minute counter goes one tick; the minute counter goes one circle, the hour counter goes one tick, and so on;

Step 2: When the chronograph start button is pressed again, the chronograph stops and the scale indicated by the large second hand and the chronograph dial is the chronograph reading; and if you start the button again, it will continuously timing again.

Step 3: After completing the timing, press the side bottom reset button to zero the chronograph.

When you are not using the timing function, the big second hand does not tick.

the big second hand always stops at 12 o’clock, so some friends who do not understand the chronograph think the watch stopped, in fact, it is not.

How to maintain your chronograph?

To maintain your chronograph, just follow the start sequence, stop and reset, reduce the wear and tear on the internal gears and don’t operate the chronograph pushers too often to reduce the chance of failure.
